The SC/ST Cell of Christ College was constituted in accordance with the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 (Act No. 33 of 1989, dated 11.09.1989), with the objective of empowering SC/ST and Other Backward Communities students within the college.

The Cell is responsible for ensuring the proper implementation of the policies and programmes introduced by the Government of India, the UGC, and the State Government for the welfare of SC/ST communities and other backward classes. It also recommends suitable measures to achieve the goals and guidelines prescribed by various government agencies. The Committee convenes regularly, and the decisions taken during the meetings are implemented without fail.

Objectives:

  • To create an environment in the college where such students feel safe.
  • To create awareness among SC/ST/Minority students about the various scholarships available through the State Government and the UGC.
  • To offer career guidance and support opportunities to these students.
  • To ensure compliance with the guidelines and provisions issued by the UGC and the Government
  • To establish a mechanism for addressing and resolving the grievances of SC/ST/Minority students, if any.
