The Department of Tourism, Christ College ,Vizhinjam conducted a ‘Destination Clean Drive’ along with the students of First and Fifth Semester B Com Tourism and Travel Management at “Kovalam, The International Tourism Destination”, on 27-09-2023, as part of World Tourism Day Celebrations.
The cleaning programme helped to give an insight into environmental impact that tourism creates at the destination. The cleaning drive was inaugurated by Mr. T Biju, Grade S I Janamaithri Police, Kovalam. Mr. Sarath Kumar S R, Assistant Professor Department of Tourism, Dr. Sindhu B I, Assistant Professor, Department Of Hindi, Mr . Joseph P Job, Assistant Professor Department of Tourism etc. escorted and guided the team of 36 students. Janamaithri Police Beat Officer Mr.Rajesh gave directions during the cleaning.
The Student coordinators, Mr.Akash Sudhi S N and Ms. Avanthika Rajeev, co-ordinated the cleaning well. The entire cleaning drive was very fruitful and students participated very actively. The collected waste including plastic has handed over to the cleaning division of Thiruvananthapuram Corporation.
