Diksha 2025, an inaugural and orientation program for the new academic year, was successfully conducted at Christ College Vizhinjam on 04/07/2025. The event aimed to welcome new students and provide them with an orientation to the college environment and ethos. Diksha is often associated with the guru-shishya tradition, where the guru guides the disciple on their spiritual path.
The program commenced promptly at 9:30 a.m. with a solemn prayer session, setting a serene and auspicious tone for the day. Dr. Joseph K. A., the esteemed principal of Christ College, delivered the welcome speech. In his address, Dr. Joseph extended a warm welcome to all new students, emphasizing the college’s commitment to academic excellence and holistic development. He also highlighted the opportunities available to students at Christ College.
The highlight of the event was the inauguration session and orientation. The chief guest, Dr. Adv. Mohan Raj J., Member of the Juvenile Justice Board, inaugurated Diksha 2025 by lighting the lamp and addressing the gathering with a meaningful speech. Dr. Mohan Raj’s address was insightful and inspiring, likely touching upon the importance of education, responsibility, citizenship, and the role of youth in society.
The University toppers—Saira Husain (Department of Tourism), Athira A. P. (Department of BCom Tax), Sharon Baizil (BCom Finance), Joshua J. (Department of BCA), Laya V. Unni (Department of Psychology), and Vedika V. Nair (17th National Kalaripayattu Championship 2024-2025, organized by the Indian Kalaripayattu Federation, Chuvadu Gold Medal)—were honored by the college Manager and Director, Adv. Rev. Fr. Thomas Cheppila CMI. The chief guest was also honored with a memento.
Staff Secretary Dr. Usha Satheesh extended the vote of thanks. Dr. Usha Satheesh expressed gratitude to the chief guest, the principal, all dignitaries, staff members, and students for their presence and active participation, which contributed to the success of Diksha 2025.
