A Women’s Cell is a legal and institutional mechanism established to protect the rights,
dignity, and safety of women in workplaces and educational institutions. It functions in
accordance with laws such as the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention,
Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013, and other gender equality provisions under the
Constitution of India. The Cell ensures timely redressal of complaints related to harassment or
discrimination, promotes awareness of legal rights, and upholds women’s welfare through
counselling, guidance, and preventive measures. It serves as a vital body to maintain justice,
equality, and a secure environment for all women.
The Women’s Cell of Christ College, Vizhinjam, is dedicated to fostering a safe,
respectful, and empowering environment for all women on campus. The Cell works to promote
gender equality, ensure women’s safety, and address grievances related to discrimination or
harassment. With the motto “Towards a Self-Empowered Mind,” the Cell aims to strengthen
the confidence, awareness, and leadership of female students and staff. It provides support,
guidance, and opportunities for personal and professional growth through workshops, awareness
programs, and welfare activities.
In collaboration with the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) and NSS Unit, the
Cell conducts awareness sessions and training on topics such as prevention of sexual harassment,
legal rights, and personal safety. It also serves as a platform for women to share experiences and
voice concerns, fostering equality and dignity within the college community.
Women’s Grievance Redressal Cell
The Women’s Grievance Redressal Cell was established in accordance with National
Commission for Women (Act No. 20 of 1990, Government of India) to uphold gender

concerning female students, faculty, and staff.
The Cell safeguards the rights of women, spreads awareness about legal protections, and
