The Department of Computer Applications conducted a highly informative and engaging orientation programme on Cyber Crime Awareness under the initiative titled “A Digital Protection Initiative”. The session was led by Mr. Vishnu A.K., Civil Police Officer from the Cyber Crime Police Station, Trivandrum City.

The primary aim of the orientation session was to create awareness among students about cyber crimes and digital safety. With the increasing dependence on the internet and online platforms, it is essential for individuals, especially students, to understand the risks, precautions, and legal aspects associated with cyber activities.

He elaborated on various types of cyber crimes such as phishing, identity theft, cyberbullying, hacking, and online financial fraud. The students were also educated on how to protect themselves online, report incidents, and use the internet responsibly. Real-life case studies and preventive measures were shared to enhance understanding.

The session was an eye-opener for many and received excellent feedback from the attendees. It successfully empowered students with the knowledge to identify, avoid, and report cyber threats, aligning with the college’s mission to foster responsible digital citizenship.
