Report on Career and Resume-Building Workshop
On 17th June 2025, the Departments of Psychology and Social Work at Christ College, Vizhinjam, jointly organized a Career and Resume-Building Workshop for S3 FYUGP Psychology students at the ASAP Community Skill Park, Vizhinjam. Coordinated by Mr. Anbin David Joy and student coordinator Vaneesa Maneak, the workshop aimed to strengthen students’ self-presentation skills, career clarity, and employability. The session, conducted by two trained instructors, prioritized interactive learning over lectures, beginning with ice-breaking activities and student reflections on career aspirations. Participants engaged in exercises to identify strengths, weaknesses, and career goals, followed by group activities where Social Work students pitched an NGO model supporting the LGBTQ+ community while Psychology students proposed a multidisciplinary mental health clinic with internship opportunities. Trainers, acting as investors, provided constructive feedback and praised the innovative ideas. Students were also introduced to vision boards as motivational tools and participated in a subject quiz that highlighted their knowledge. The resume-building segment provided practical tips, sample templates, and guidance on avoiding errors, ensuring students gained clarity on crafting impactful resumes. Feedback from students and faculty was overwhelmingly positive, with 100% of participants recommending the workshop, demonstrating its success in enhancing career preparedness, self-awareness, and motivation.
