The Department of Social Work, Christ College Vizhinjam, in collaboration with Kotoor Geetanjali Social Centre successfully organized Sahajeevanam – Tribal Camp 2025. The programme was conducted as part of the department’s experiential learning initiatives aimed at strengthening students’ understanding of indigenous life, sustainable development, and community engagement.
The camp was held from October 1 to October 3, 2025, at the scenic and culturally rich environment of kotoor. With the theme “Explore the Unexplored”, the camp provided an opportunity for students to immerse themselves in the unique socio-cultural dynamics of tribal communities while gaining hands-on exposure related to SDG 15 – Life on Land.
Programme Highlights
The three-day camp featured a wide range of activities, including:

  • Orientation sessions led by resource persons from Kotoor Grama Panchayath.
  • Field visits to tribal settlements to understand community structures, needs, and local governance.
  • Cultural exchange programmes highlighting traditional art forms and folklore.
  • Group discussions, documentation exercises, and reflection sessions facilitated by faculty.
  • Awareness initiatives focusing on environmental sustainability and community participation.

Students actively participated in interactive learning experiences, group activities, and cultural programmes, making the camp both educational and enriching.

Outcome
